A Study on the Adsorbing Ability of Some Mineral Adsorbents Produced in Korea

Abstract
Adsorbing ability of some mineral adsorbents produced in Korea is examined by using the method of Akazawa et al. which is modifying the Merck¢¥s method and their particle size is determined with a Fisher Subsieve Sizer.
In this experiment, the small particle has greater adsorbing ability than the large one in the same Kinds of samples, but the particle size has no relationship on their adsorbing ability in the different kinds of samples.
The effect of acid and alkali treatment is also investigated upon these samples. In adsorbing ability, neutral clay and acidic clay(kaolin) are highiy activated by acid treatment, but alkaline clay(bentonite)isn¢¥t activated by acid treatment while it is also highly activated by alkali treatment.
